Oil cap leakage... 700 1989

1989 740GL

Recently, my oil filler cap began leaking oil, and of course that oil was being distributed around the engine compartment, running down onto the exhaust manifold, etc. I replaced the rubber gasket in the cap and figured I was set, but... After about a week with the new rubber seal in the cap, and a seemingly tight fit, I'm still getting leakage from under the cap. Not nearly as bad as before, but it's certainly still a problem. Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped.
