anti freeze 900 96

Volvo anti freeze $15.95, Peak( good for all engines, including aluminum)is $4.50. I know the difference is$11.45, but what else? I just had my 960 flushed and filled with volvo's on a special deal with the dealer, but I am not convinced that I have to use V anti. What happens if I have to fill a bit during the winter must I use the V antifreeze?
