My 86 245 has been cutting out intermittently... I'll be going along at 30mph and the thing just dies. So far it's always restarted immediately. Electrical gremlins? My mechanic said the fuel pressure checks out, and that it may need a new ECU ($350!), but as the problem is intermittent I held off.
Decided instead to clean all the grounds in the engine bay and the contacts at the air mass meter, battery, fuse near the strut tower, and coil. I sprayed contact cleaner on the connector at the air mass meter and connections to the coil, sanded grounds, and scraped the battery connections clean...
Then: no start. It cranks fine. Haven't yet checked for spark or fuel, but wonder: could the contact cleaner spray have caused a problem, say with the air mass meter connections? It does pool up a but, though I tried to wipe off the extra with a rag. ??
