Turn signal cancelling 700 1989

In my recently aquired '89 744T, the turn signals sometimes don't cancel automatically if I take a turn of less than 90 degrees. Is there a cam that wears, should I bother to take it out and lube it, or did they tend to do this new? Oh yeah, this is w/out CC, if that makes a difference.
