One of my bricks is behaving strangely and I can’t figure it out. Here’s what happens:
I seem to have an overall loss of power in every situation. The car starts fine, and revs fine when it’s sitting. But when I drive it around town, especially on an incline, the car quickly loses power. This is going up any hill, trying to maintain about 35 mph. The car will slow to about 20mph, and I’ll have trouble maintaining that unless I kick it down to first gear. It seems like I can’t get the rpm’s to maintain my speed. The problem is the same on the highways—any incline will cause the car to slow down, to the point where I have extreme difficulty maintaining 55 mph. I would say that this is a gradual problem, which started with me feeling a little like the car was dogging it, and now it’s a full-blown driveability problem.
There’s no inappropriate surging and the car never stalls.
Could a bad AMM cause this behavior? Shifting seems a little harsh, but it does shift.
Would cleaning the Throttle Body help?
Many thanks for any suggestions you might offer!
