My property manager phoned me yesterday, he has inherited a 1976 Volvo 242 DL, 2.1 L Carb'd engine, 4 speed tranny, plain jane car. However, it has 40,000 original km's, garaged it's entire life, no rust, dents, scratches- interior is new- the best I can describe the car is that it looks like it just rolled out of the factory. It has been parked in a garage for the last 10 years- we put air in the tires and pushed it out into the driveway, this thing is CHERRY!! He has no interest in keeping it, and since I'm moving from Vancouver to Calgary in 3 weeks, I can't buy it, what is the thing worth, both in current condition, and if it had all the necessary work done to it to get it up to spec mechanically ? I would think that it has some collector value- he's wondering what it would fetch if he held out for the right price.
