Need Recommendations for Tires 700 1987

I unfortunately blew out a tire a couple of days ago, and am considering replacing all the tires. I've owned this car for about a year (87 740GLE, with RWD), and have had some difficulties handling my car last winter in the ice/slush/snow. Can anyone recommend a good set of tires that I can use all year round, but will help with the icy, slushy winters typical of Northern Virginia? Thanks for your help. Jennifer
