cruise control disengages 900 1992

Driving along cruise works fine for no reason it kicks off. If you speed up back to set speed it will hold again for a while then kick off.Increase/decrease speed switch and resume work while activated.It almost seems as though electrical component gets hot and shuts down cruise (just a guess) Anybody else have this happen?Thanks Steve p.s. have not pressure ckd cruise bellows could this be problem???
