Windshield defrost button deactivates gauge lights 200 82

Hello-

I have an unusual electrical problem. Whenever I use the windshield Defrost button, the lights in my gauges (oil, boost, and volt) all go out. It also affects the functioning of my volt meter and oil pressure gauge, they just stop working. The clock is unaffected by the button. Any ideas? Thanks
