I'm very familiar with the Volvos having owned an '88 740 Turbo now for a few years (187k) and we need a station wagon for our business. I have an opportunity to buy a '90 760 Turbo Wagon with 140k for 2600. It's a southern car and the body and interior are excellent. It has been diagnosed with some problems, though, and that's why it's at 2600.
Most important is the compression: 3 cylinders came in at around 140 and the 4th came in at 120. I'm told that the minimum acceptable compression is 128 and in addition when you have one cylinder that is more than 15 below the rest it's even more serious. Because the rest of the car is in such good condition, I'm not adverse to having the top end rebuilt.
Or should I be? I'm open to any and all advice.
Thanks much!
