Cruise gets cruisin' 200 91

When I use my cruise control, all is well on level road. When I go up a hill, it will rev up the RPM's to (try to) maintain the set speed. My problem is, it will sometimes keep revving up (and speeding up) on the downgrade too! All of a sudden I'm passing everybody! When this happens, I have to tap the brake to get it to disengage. Any suggestions?
