Should Overdrive Work in Every Gear!?!? 200 1985

Fellow Bricksters,

The '85 turbo I just bought does strange things in overdrive. First, the car is always IN overdrive when I start it up. I have to switch out before driving. The overdrive light indicator does not work either. Finally, while driving, I can switch into overdrive from any gear (I thought you could only switch into OD in 4th).

Is this a bit unusual as well as dangerous!?!?
