too much oil? 200 1982

um...for reasons I'd rather not have to explain, there is now something like 1/2 qt too much oil in the car: the oilmark is about 1/2" past "full" on the dipstick.

can the car be safely driven without damaging the engine, or should the excess oil be drained?
