It's called a GLE; why not a 264? 200 82

So I have this '82 Volvo GLE, the only designation on the vehicle or title. It's a V6 (lucky me), sedan; so I was just curious why it wasn't referred to as a 264. My insurance company had to create a new Volvo designation because just 'GLE' wasn't an option on their conputerized list. Thought that was odd. Any ideas? Just wondering.....
