I'm looking for a 740 station wagon to replace my '86 740 GLE sedan.
I'm looking at two: an '89 740 GLE wagon with leather, power this-n-that, etc. for $4500, or a '91 740 (plain) wagon with leather, and some power stuff (I don't recall it's having cruise control). The '89 has 120K miles and the '91 has 150K miles. Also, the '91 is from a dealer and has a 3 month warranty. They both seem clean and nice, neither has turbo. Is there a good reason I should go with a newer model, or should I stick with the '89 which has lower mileage? Also, what's the difference between an '89 740 GLE and a '91 740 (not GL or GLE)?
I will probably keep this car as long as it lasts, hope to get AT LEAST 5 years out of it. I only drive 10K miles a year, but make a few trips to the mountains (Sierras) each year.
Thanks in advance for your advice! By the way, I will have my mechanic look over both of them before purchase, too.
