Why are the 80's Toyota cars more reliable than the 80's Volvos? What makes the Japanese engineers more superior than the ones in Sweden? And for that matter, why are European cars more high maintenance and more expensive to repair?
Don't get me wrong, I love my 83 240. But as I think back of all the cars I've ever owned (American, Japanese, German, and Swedish), the Japanese cars were the most reliable and the least problematic of all of them.
BTW, besides my Brick, I also currently drive an 86 Toyota Camry LE with 114K miles. She's purred like a kitten her entire life.
