Voltage stabiliser 200 80

Guys, more along the lines of a discussion than a problem,Im interested in your ideas.

A few months ago after registering high temp and changing everything from the gauge to the waterpump I found the problem to be the voltage stabiliser which hides behind the temp gauge and fuel gauge. It goes and both these gauges read high.

Last week the same behavior commenced again.Replaced the stabiliser and all is sweet.

Now was it a coincidence that the original and the 2nd s/h unit both died or is there perhaps an underlying fault.

Could a jump start, voltage regulator, or even an alternator, or short cause the unit to peg out?

What do you think?
