Which brand of ATF to use? 700 1992

I need to replace/flush the fluid in my auto transmissions this weekend. I bought the kit from IPD now I need the ATF fluid. Is any brand of Dextron III acceptable. I was at Wal Mart tonight and noticed the following :

Tech gallon $4.13

Quaker State quart $1.84

Quaker State synthetic quart $2.95

They all say they meet Dextron III specifications. The off brand (Tech) is definitely the best price. So am I just paying for advertising for the name brand with Quaker State? What are the benefits of the synthetic? Can synthetic be mixed (there will be some remaining in the tranny) with the old ATF?
