strange noise when accelerating 200 1991

hey guys. i just posted about a tach and now i'm moving on to the engine. i've had my car for about a year and a half and for at least 11 months the car has made a sort of knocking or rattling noise when i accelerate. it's also especially evident as i accelerate from a higher speed. example: i can hear the knock a lot clearer if i push the accelator when i'm on the highway going say 70 MPH. I don't know why. What I'm curious about is a) what is it and b) how can i fix it?

As far as I can tell it hasnt affected the performance of the car. I've replaced the spark plugs and that had no effect so I have no idea how to take car of it. Any suggestions on either a or b? Thanks guys.
