Re: Intermittent start problem! HELP! part 2 200 1979

Hi all, it is me again. Guess what? my car didn't want to start this morning. when the car didn't start, i went ahead and jumped fuses numbers 5 and 7. The only thing i heard was the in-tank fuel pump make a noise. I didn't hear the main fuel pump. I tried starting the car, both with the fuses jumped and after having jumped them temporarily. I used a piece of wire, (plain old wire that you can get at any hardware store) (That's the only available thing i had to jump the fuses), anyway, i tried to start the car with no luck whatsoever. It cranked and cranked just as it always did before when it didn't want to start. But then, a few tries later, BOOM, the car started up. When this happened i heard a noise under the driveras side of the car, I'm 99% guessing it was the fuel pump. Well, when m car started up, it was then idle-ing at 2000 rpm. Normally my car idles around the 1000 rpm mark. Well, i tapped the gas pedal and the tach went back down to the normal 1000 rpm idle.

I'm guessing this will most likely eliminate any electrical problem, maybe not. Would it suggest a faulty fuel pump, problem with the fuel line, etc.?

I couldn't really try to find other possible non-start causes since my car did eventually start up.

And, also, if i'm not mistaken, then instrument cluster and all of its lights used to come on when turn the key in the ignition, today, this morn, all i saw was the brake and oil light come on? Please HELP!!!!

Thanks

Robert
