i've researched the archives and think i've found my solution. i recently replaced my a/c compressor, receiver/drier, expansion valve and a pusher fan on the front. filled it with ester oil and 134a. this morning while driving in, i got a vent temp reading of 40 degrees!!! here's my problem (one that's been beaten to death): when i'm driving without the a/c running, traffic or not, the temp reads below the half-way dot. when i'm running the a/c, the temp registers at the dot, but when i'm in traffic, it'll register at the white line of the red zone. at this point, i bang the top of the dash about two good thumps and the temp guage drops to the mid-point. i have noticed that a few times before the guage read very hot without the a/c running and the bang technique worked just fine. my possible solution is to clwean the contacts on the guage and its connector and make sure that they are getting good contact. i had read in a past post something about soldering in something (not a resister but possibly a jumper) to help this problem. can anyone help me in finding this???
thanks...........
