Re: Dashboard Lighting 200 1981

Ricardo,

It sounds like a blown bulb. Last weekend I climbed under the dash of my 1983 DL to fix the same problem.

Just like Stoney says, put your back on the driver side floor and look up into the back of the dash with a flashlight. Look Waaayy up and you will see the speedo cable going into the back of the dash panel. Now just above and to each side of the speedo cable you will see TWO brown (at least on mine) light bulb sockets. They are the largest bulb sockets on the back of the instrument board. These two bulbs illuminate the dash. If you turn the bulb holder a 1/4 turn counter clockwise it will come straight out the back of the panel (keyhole style retention). Replace the bulbs and reinstall. By the way, before you put the socket back in, gently adjust the metal contacts on the socket and it will make it much easier to install.

Now is a good time to make sure all the idiot lights are working too (light blue light sockets).
