Sorry about the brevity of my response; here's a better shot at it:
First, you will need a Torx (star-shaped) screwdriver as well as a flat blade screwdriver, both with handles large enough to give you some torque. You will also need an adjustable wrench or, better, a set of metric open or combination wrenches. Remember that to unscrew anything, you turn it counter-clockwise as you face it. If your hoses are older than six years, go buy two new ones along with new clamps (4). Dayco makes a good product that is ewidely available; you don't need to pay for the Volvo brand.
1. Disconnect battery negative cable. Turn the heater temp selector on "high."
2. Remove coolant tank cap and, after placing a drain pan under the car, remove the bottom radiator hose by unscrewing the clamp. Let it drain (big mess!), then remove the top hose and the expansion tank hose at the radiator.
3. Remove the plastic cooling fan shroud (Torx screws hold this all around.)
4. Remove the two radiator hold-down braces at the top (again, Torx screws.)
5. Get a drain pan for A/T fluid and two baggies with stout rubber bands.
6. Unscrew the top A/T cooling line into the radiator (turning the nut counterclockwise) and place a baggie over the end, secured by the band. This will catch fluid drips.
7. Same with bottom cooling line, only get ready to catch the fluid draining out of the cooler.
8. Lift the radiator out after disconnecting the coolant temp sensor wire connector (above the a/t cooler lines) if one is used.
9. To install, reverse the process except for the top radiator hose. The radiator sits on rubber bumpers at the bottom. Make sure that all clamps, screws and bolts are tight and that the hoses are clamped securely ahead of the outlet pipe raised beads. Don't use any sealants. If something doesn't fit right after putting it back together, take it apart so it does fit.
10. Refill your cooling system ONLY with 50-50 antifreeze-distilled water mixture. Fill it through the coolant recovery tank. When it gets to the top of the radiator, reconnect the top radiator hose.
11. Start the engine and let it warm up. Look hard for leaks.
12. Let the car cool completely and top off the tank. Keep an eye out for hose and tubing leaks over the next few days. After a week or so, retighten all hose clamps.
Good luck!
