Parts swap from 87 wagon to 89 sedan? 700 89

Hello folks,

Hopefully this message posts(1st-time poster, long-time reader).

I was wondering if a windshield off of a 1987 740 Turbo Wagon will fit onto a 1989 740 GL sedan? And if it fits, will I have difficulties removing the good windshield in one piece or would it create so much hassle that I should consider buying a new one.

Second, I was wondering if the window lift mechanism (actuator? or scissor arm) on the F-Driver side door will transplant from the 87 to the 89?

Thanks in advance,

Timothy.

Further to the post but not exclusively related to the questions above.

History, and opinions wanted. The 87 wagon (315,000KM - not in greatest condition) can be purchased for $450(CDN) and I feel the parts I salvage would make it worth while to buy it as a salvaged vehicle.

However, the catch is that there was a small fire in the engine compartment (oil leak on turbo = fire) but the owner managed to put out fire with extingisher. The wiring harness was damaged along with the Air mass meter in the fire but not hot enough to burn off/deform the hoses as they are still intact but should be replaced. Other items to be looked at include seals and belts.

Would it be prudent to try and bring this brick back to life (assuming I fix it myself) or just buy it for parts?
