I have received messages from some of you regarding how to remove the instrument cluster (in order to remove the inoperative odometers). I've got to tell you, I have removed the ducts and the plastic piece that directs air to the windshield (defogger), I have plenty of room for the temperature gauge since I snaked more of the tubing from the engine compartment, all cluster bulbs have bee removed and labeled, and I removed both 7/16" nuts that hold the cluster in place.

I still cannot manipulate the cluster to bring it out of the dash! There is a thick wire harness that is above the top of the cluster but no matter how I move it, there is never enough room to turn the cluster and bring it out the front. It would appear that pushing in on the top right (looking directly at the cluster) and bringing out the lower left is the way to do this, however, the bottom of the cluster is thick and will not allow me to make that turn. While I do that push-pull, I can dent and scratch the thick chrome trim of the cluster. I can cover the trim with tape but I can still dent it. Some of you took hours doing this the first time but swear that 20-30 minutes is all that was needed subsequent times. This is driving me crazy, so please, how are you doing this? Help!
