PRV 6cyl Questions 200 1979

Two questions regarding my engine. 1. Would someone enlighten me as to the purpose for the electrical plug/socket which is covered by a plastic cap and located on the passenger side near the distributor. Is this for some sort of diagonistic routine? 2. On the top of the transmission just behind where the transmission bolts to the rear of the engine there is a nylon tube fitting. It seems that some sort of hose should be connected here but I can't figure out where the hose should be routed. Thanks for your help.
