starting 200 1990

OK... I have a problem with my 240 starting hard when shes hot. Also it has been creating a vapour lock when it gets to about a 3/4 tank. I have to hold the gas pedal down half way and crank the starter over to long before it will start.

I have narrow it down to two things..

1) fuel pump relay.....I replaced it and still no luck. I also jumped the relay plug to make sure that the main pump under the car was working...It was!

2) The primming pump in the tank does not seem to be working when I turn on the ignition to ON. I tested the the pump out of the tank and it works fine. I thought that it was a bad ground coming out of the tank and that seems to be ok. However, when I reinstalled the pump on the sending unit and before placing it into the tank I could not get it to work.

Can you give me any help on this? I have yet to replace the fuel filter, but I don't think that it is all the problem.
