I found that there were 2 places that water was coming in my '85 and '87 740s. First: there is an air intake in front of the windshield. After taking the grill off there is a "mushroom" like cover that had a misplaced gasket. I used silicone calk and stopped that one.

Second: There were 4" x 6" plastic plugs behind the kick panel, probably where an air vent was in non AC cars. This has a fat O ring that gets tired. Look for rust in both places.
