Talk about a project...

las night I removed the front and rear seats, the center console, and front seat belts...and pulled out the tan carpet which was a single piece that goes from the fronts of the front seats to the back of the rear seats. I then cleaned the carpets, which were reeeeeeealllly dirty. I had a large piece of dense capet padding (1/2"). I cut a pattern out of it by tracing the existing carpet overtop with the cutout holes for belts etc.

After reinstalling everything the car seemed quieter and more solid. There was no padding (just painted metal under the seats) and nothing over the tranny tunnel. It was a killer 3 hour job considering the humidity. Still hear noise coming from the front knee bolsters and drivers side door seal (which is need of changeover).

Phase 2: I will do some sort of padding from the front seats and tranny up to and under the knee bolsters...don't think that will be as cumbersome with an even denser material.

Phase 3: Door panels - are these difficult to remove (has power windows)?
