When it's in the no-start condition, see if it's getting spark. If no spark, a likely candidate could be the crank position sensor (in the bell housing, near the top). They like to start acting up on warm engine rather than cold. Some years had the sensor built into the distributor, and got timing info from the cam position, but those can go bad just as easily.
