Heater on always? 700 1985

When driving for extended period, car seems to heat up inside.

My ventilation system is stuck in defrst mode. Haven't found reason for this yet. But with windows rolled up and stuck in traffic I notice a pronounced build up of heat in car, more than just being summer!

Where is the heater control valve? the one that would direct warm water to heater core. I think that might be part of problem.
