steering rack adjustment 200 80

I have an 80 242 gt. the steering pulls and is hard to turn to the right. someone told me a while back that i could open up that little cover on the rack and turn it a few clicks to adjust the force to balance it out R to L. has anyone heard of this or done it? is it just a bandaid, and will it create more problems?

please advise.
