02 sensor 700 1990

I have the B234F 16 V engine. I am going out to the garage after I fire off this message where I will start to remove and clean the throttle body. My symptoms are hard, stumbling miss at idle in drive at stop and hesitation on acceleration. If, by chance, the TB cleaning does not work, will the 02 sensor going bad produce these results? Mine has not been changed for some time. By the way........what is the recommended frequency for changing the 02 sensor?
