Manual trans shifting 700 any

I have two 740's 16v. Both are tough to put into 1st gear at a stop, one much harder than the other. The 744 is almost impossible unless you first go to the 3-4 gate, then back to the 1-2 position.It will go in like knife in butter if the car is rolling, but if stopped, you have to push to what seems a breaking point.

I have adjusted very carefully the reverse lock out stop.

My 240's never were like this, Has anyone had this problem, could it be the hydraulic clutch slve cylinder?
