clutch pedal pressure 200 1980

The clutch pedal in my 1980 242 is very, very stiff. The clutch is fine, it's just that a lot of leg is required to depress the pedal. Is there any way to fix this? Could you somehow stretch out one or both of the two return springs (on the pedal and/or the lever on the clutch) or is stiffness coming from the digaphram spring inside? Another idea I had was to get the hydraulic equipment from a later model. Is there any reason why this would not be a good idea?

Anyone have any ideas?
