good or bad and what to look for in used ? 900

We have had most volvos but not a 900 series. Currently in our household we have 3-240s and an 850.the 850 is a very fun ride. However I need a newer car for me (good bye old 240)ANd so a nice 940 with under 100k.Non turbo, wagon, leather, white, dead stero, cracked headlight.Pedal pulse when stomping on them like a bad rotor. My job will put about 20-30k a year on a car. The 940s look like they are basicallly the last of the 240s to me as far as most mechanical.

Questions, is that true ( the 240 look alike comment)? what is the major stumbling block or headache of them ? are the climate control systems reliable. What I have been told is that the rear suspension and the brake systems are not good and that many of the parts are expensive (even for vovlo standards) because of the limited production and they were trying to weed out new production problem parts befroe going into production of their new styles.

cant afford a new volvo , my wife thinks I should look at a ( dont shoot me) new Toytoa with warranty etc, yech , cant do that.
