my amp light comes on, please help 200 1976

Hi, i have a 245 and was wondering if anyone has put curtains in their wagon and how it was done? I plan on camping in this car and like to have privacy =-).

more importantly...the amp light comes on quite often, the wiring has been replaced, do you think i need to replace the alternator? can this be done by myself? See, i paid 1500 for this car under theimpression that all of these little buigs had been worked out (the guy made 500 off the deal because the owners of the car gave it to him to fix up and sell for them). well ive had it 2 months and already have had the oil sender replaced, problem with the amp light, the e-brake doesnt work, AND its got an oil leak. So to get it all running good i have to invest another 500!!! im pretty irritated about that, especially since its only a 3 speed! I feel like i got ripped off.

heres more info on the amp light situation:

it appears to be random, but possibly only at night. However, it is not every night and it may happen once at night, but later that night it is fine. It is very dim at times and cannot be seen during the day, so i am not positive that it does not come on during the day. It seems like often, but not always, the faster the car is going, the brighter it gets, but dim and flickering at idle. Last night was somethign new tho, it was blinking brighter with my turn signals. The guy i bought the car from replaced the wiring using a new wiring kit that runs the wires around the engine rather than under, he did this a few weeks ago.
