Simple Voltmeter Question 200 1992

Hello All,

Just a simple voltmeter question. After I installed a new tach beside the speedometer (thanks to all on the board who asked and answered questions regarding this, it made my job easier!) I decided to hook up my voltmeter. I put everything on the voltmeter in-line with the small clock, and it works great. The only problem with this setup is that the voltmeter is ALWAYS on; even when the car is off since the clock recieves constant power. Will having the voltmeter constantly on run down the battery or pose any other threat to the electrical system? I don't want to drain the battery or melt and wiring/fuses (I used pretty heavy gauge wire for the power and ground).

If it's no problem running it all the time, then great. Otherwise I'm gonna have to rewire the damn thing. If I have to rewire it, what/where can I get power that's only on when the car is on?

Much thanks in advance,

Seth
