I've been gathering the parts to convert my R12 system over to R134a this weekend. New drier/accumulator and a VOV!
Flicked the A/C switch on the dash this morning, just to make sure the compressor was still rotating (hadn't run it in the last month). Noticed that the clutch would engage for a few seconds, then cut out for a few seconds, then engage again. Heard a little "screech" as the clutch cycled in and out. I let it go through about a half dozen cycles before I turned it off.
Is my clutch going bad? Or is the pressure switch cycling my pressure switch due to a low charge in the system?
