Rear Door Won't Open 700 87

Last week the driver's side rear door failed to open. Lock goes up, tried from the inside, tried holding the lock up while moving both outside and inside levers, still not opening.

Anybody have a suggestion? Can part of the door panel be removed with the door in the closed position to access the levers?
