89 turbo 5 speed 740
New plugs, cap and rotor. new oxygen sensor.
Over the past two months the engine has occassionally quit when I have stopped at stop signs or slowed to make a turn. It gives off an occassional shudder when fully stopped and the engine is idling. Any time it stopped completely, It would start back up immediately--- until today. Today the engine shut down as I slid through a stop sign, and refused to restart. I coasted into a parking lot, let it rest, tried the ignition again but no start. There was no odor of gas, the engine turned over fine, the battery was doing its job, but no start. Checked all the distributor wires to make sure they were tight. They were.
I walked across the street to a service station whose attendant came over. I popped the hood, turned the key for him to listen and diagnose. Without his touching anything but the hood release, the engine started up immediately. I drove the fifteen miles home on I-55 whille the engine shuddred and stutterd the whole way but never shut down.
Please, what do I have checked to keepy this lovely little car running properly?
