Erratic temp gauge, normal or cold dead cold indicated when engine is hot.
inspected 2 yr old stat, normal, replace anyway since cost is 8.75$(fcpgroton).Hate to go back in another day.
Shorted one prong temp sender connector, all the way to red.Switch off.
According to and thanks to Brick posters, this is a sign the circuit works.
only thing left is the temp sender,16$(fcpgroton).FAQ poster suggest breaking the plastic connector to remove temp sender while others suggested crow feet wrench.Got one..But the space is so tight that even c.f.does not work there. The best thing is to break to plastic connector/prongs on the sender itself. Then use a 19mm or better sl larger 3/4 in socket.Replace using hand and 19mm wrench.
Now temp gauge works,
Thanks a million.Without this list and Steve Ringlee, this plus other works would be subjected to either neglect or big repair bills.
