Re: Best Cell phone holder?/Danger Will Robinson, Danger! (No Joke-Please Read This!) 900 1997

Beware of the use of hands free headsets witout hooking up an external antenna...Nokia and most manufacturers of the headsets (Cell Labs, OKI and Jabra) use the headset wire to your ear as an antenna feed and the same microwave energy that is going to the antenna when you hold the phone next to your head is also going to your ear/side of head when using the headset...We did a test using a Gauss meter and found the exosure level was the same for the phone next to head and the headset in the ear...EXCEPT when you plug the phones remote antenna connector into an external antenna! This bypasses the headset antenna connection and the phones normal antenna and reroutes the antenna signal to the remote antenna...

This is only for those phones that use an adapter box on the bottom (Nokia/Erickson/etc) and not for phones that use the 2.5mm headset plug (Motorola Flip, Elite, etc) on the side...

I know that "they" tell you the exposure level are minimal (remember they want to SELL you phones not protect you!)but I have also seen info that shows that you get more rads from heavy Cell/PCS phone use than an XRay Tech does working in a hospital...and when I saw the Gauss meter readings, right away I went and got the adapter to hook up to my trunk mounted external antenna ....

Remember all the cops who got cancer from using the handheld radar guns? They also were supposed to be "safe"!
