Does anyone know the Bosch CIS sysytem?? ALL 1983

Working on Bosch CIS system. has not run in awhile and found the plunger in the fuel distributor to be clogged. used a pliers to remove it and then soaked it and the fuel distributor in Berryman,s cleaner. There was a clip bent over that i bent out of the way to remove the plunger. How is that clip to be positioned??? I put it back so that the furthermost tapered end of the plunger is stopped by the clip. Is that what the clip is for?? It is not shown is Richard Sealey 1980 edition which is good material for the CIS. Can anyone help?? Thanks so much.
