Brake line fittings? 120-130 1967

I'm in the process of replacing my single master cylinder w/ a dual unit, and upgrading the rubber brakelines to stainless on my 67 122s

It appears that the fittings are either american standard...or...british..., as they thread easily into either. Which is it, and what exactly is the difference between these two types of brake fittings.

this seems like something I should know already...but, I don't!
