Speedometer cable not staying plugged in speedometer. 200 1990

I had to remove the instrument cluster in my 1990 240 to replace the bulbs that illuminate the instruments. The speedometer worked fine for a few days. Now it does nothing. I have a feeling that the wires are not staying in place. That blue clip doesn't seem to go back on properly. Help!
