Excessive crankcase pressure 200 1982

What could be the causes of excessive crankcase pressure? I have an 1982 240GL that I just bought a few days ago. It has an extreme oilleak from the middle seal on the front of the engine. I cleaned out the flame trap and and checked what hoses I could find and couldn't find any other blockages. I'm worried that if I put in the new seal and timing belt (oil soaked) that something I forgot will blow out the seal again. Thanks for the responses in advance. This is a great board.
