160 degree thermostat on b230ft 700 1990

Thanks Jon! I called gapa.com and ordered a 180 degree thermostat. The guy talked me into ordering a 160 as well and using the 160 for summer, and 180 for winter.

I figured the extra $10 wasn't a big deal, so I went for it.

But I have a few concerns about running the engine 30 degree cooler than normal.

1) Carbon buildup. Will a cooler engine contribute to this?

2) Plug foulup?

3) Will this screw up the computer and make it think the car's still warming up? (keeping the cold start inj on, etc)

4) I once had a old chev van with foamy oil. I replaced the 160 degree thermostat with a 180, the extra heat evaporated the water and the foam went away. I don't want this to happen on my volvo.

I drive this car hard. I am planning to install a boost controller and turn the boost up soon. Otherwise I would stick with 192 deg stock temp.
