Big Auto Overdrive Problems 200 1984

Okay, here's the deal

the two wires that go to the OD switch on the shifter sparked because the insulation peeled off. When i ran the car the next time, the OD light didnt come on, and the OD didnt work. Nothing happens if I push the button. Whats the problem? Is it a relay or something? Thanks in advance.
