External Powered Mirror Needs Repair 900 93

The left hand side mirror took a glancing blow against a large plastic garbage bin this morning. The mirror ended up angled towards the window. Close inspection revealed the mirror having more play than previously the case. It still moves with the driver's control, but not the full range of movement.

Can someone please tell me the likely damage and the repair method.

Following the 700/900 FAQ article I made an attempt this arvo to remove the mirror. The two tabs on each corner that secure the mirror were visible on the side furthest from the window. I made an attempt to lift them with a small screwdriver but keeping both lifted at the same time proved difficult. In the end mosquitoes and darkness beat me.

Will have another go tomorrow. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hoping the mirror doesn't fall from the car while being driven in the meantime. It seems to be securely enough held .

Thanks in advance.
